For our premiere episode, I sat down with Game Director Nic Cantin and Lead Level Designer Daniel Windfeld-Schmidt to talk about the gameplay mechanics of Thief. We discuss why the franchise is so unique, explain the gameplay pillars and dive into exactly how the light gem works – something I know that our forum regulars have been curious to learn more about. We also touch on combat, the map system seen in the recent E3 gameplay footage - and more!
Community note: This podcast originally started out as a video, but due to some issues with the visuals (damn you, lens cap!) we decided to share this conversation with you as an audio podcast instead. I’ve spoken with several community members who have requested more regular updates, and an audio podcast will allow us to provide this.
